Tuberous Breast Reduction

Tuberous breast correction is a specialized surgical procedure designed to correct the shape, size, and position of breasts affected by tuberous breast deformity—a congenital condition where breast development is restricted, resulting in a narrow base, enlarged areola, and herniated or drooping tissue. This condition can affect one or both breasts and often causes significant asymmetry and emotional distress.

During your consultation, Dr. Viezel-Mathieu will perform a thorough evaluation to determine the degree of tuberous deformity and create a customized surgical plan. Depending on your anatomy and goals, this plan may include reducing breast volume, reshaping the breast base, correcting areolar protrusion, and adjusting nipple position for a more balanced, natural contour. Implants are also sometimes used if additional volume is needed.

Surgery is performed under general anesthesia as a day procedure. It involves a combination of techniques to release constricted tissue, reshape the breast mound, and achieve better symmetry. In some cases, a breast implant or fat grafting may be recommended to enhance volume and improve shape.

Recovery typically ranges from 2–4 weeks, depending on the extent of correction. Most patients experience mild swelling and discomfort during the initial healing period and are guided through a tailored recovery plan with scheduled follow-ups.

Tuberous breast reduction is a highly individualized procedure aimed at restoring confidence and creating a more proportional, aesthetically pleasing breast appearance. It may be combined with other procedures, such as breast augmentation or asymmetry correction, for optimal results.
