Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators can be used for a multitude of both functional and cosmetic purposes. We specialize in their cosmetic uses where the product is used to give skin a smoother, more refreshed and youthful appearance. Neuromodulators, which are purified proteins that are approved by both Health Canada and the FDA , are injected in the facial muscles. They work by blocking nerve signals to these muscles, thus temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for wrinkles and fine lines.

Neuromodulators can be used to treat:

  • Wrinkles or signs of aging caused by habitual muscle contractions, like forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet (wrinkles near the lateral aspect of the eyes), and frown lines

  • Chin cobble-stoning

  • Downturned corners of the mouth

  • Excess sweating

Details

Our neuromodulator treatments are performed in the office. The appointment takes about 30 minutes and requires minimal downtime. The treatment is administered as a series of injections with a thin needle. Results appear approximately three to five days following treatment and typically last three to four months. Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use neuromodulators, and it is important to inform our team of any medications being taken.
